A beautiful evergreen, large shrub or small tree, from the temperate forests of Tasmania and Australia. Whilst making a large tree in its native home, in Europe it makes a gorgeously aromatic, seemingly hardy large shrub. Glossy leaves, white underneath and pleasantly scented when crushed. Fragrant white flowers with a raspberry blotch in spring. As it grows upright it doesn't take up too much space and makes a handsome specimen or group, where the aroma can scent the air.
