Spikes of dusky, violet-purple flowers with a deep-purple eye in June and July on charcoal green stems. Said to be a chance hybrid of B.australis x B.alba, it was discovered by Rob Gardener of the North Carolina Botanical Gardens. Native of the prairies of North America it's tough, easy to grow, long- lived and highly coveted by the best garden designers.
