A solid, reliable woodlander I would not wish to be without. Beautiful glossy green heart shaped leaves and small white flowers exhibited over a long period.
It was originally named for Bees of Chester who funded George Forrest to go China and find new and exciting plants. He brought this back but it became 'lost to cultivation' until 're-discovered' by Planthunter Dan Hinkley in the mid-nineties.
It is worth making the effort to choose a nice shaded position that is well-drained with nice humusy soil, not that it is tender or difficult, just given the right conditions it can look striking and make good strong clumps
