Lovely, honey-scented flowers on this special hybrid of E. Mellifera and E. Stygiana, looking nearer to the latter and seemingly a fully hardy, evergreen large dome. An exceptionally fine plant named after John Phillips who had a beautiful garden in Wiltshire. Needs space but makes a good specimen for sun or part shade (will make a dome about 2.5m wide and a 1m high). I think it is still the best of all the stygiana hybrids that have appeared.
