A very distinctive and stunningly beautiful rose with graceful sprays of small, double, deep yellow flowers in April and May. A perfect choice for growing up the front of the house, perhaps over an arch or pergola or even into a small tree. The flowers are lightly scented and there are no thorns to speak of which makes it perfect for an enclosed space. Gives the perfect cottage garden feel. I had one growing up the front of my old cottage in Sussex all under the windows with beautiful peeling bark at the base of the trunk. Introduced to England from China before 1824. Can be slow initially, as it is usually on its own roots rather than grafted onto a stronger stock, so ours are strong plants.
