A handsome and rare evergreen clematis collected by Roy Lancaster on Emei Shan some years ago, but still not often seen. Attractive foliage has a natural silver variegation in the centre of each leaf and pretty bronze-red new growth. The sweetly scented flowers appear in March and are a creamy-green and can be very striking en masse. However, it is important to give this clematis more light/sun than usual to achieve good flowering. As someone who is not a great variegation enthusiast there are some plants that exhibit natural variegation (as opposed to variegation caused by virus in the foliage, etc) and I find the foliage as attractive as the flowers, just a personal view (NICE STRONG 2 LITRE PLANTS)
