Styrax huanus is considered by some to be synonymous with hemsleyanus but not according to 'Flora of China' and I am afraid I agree with the latter. For me one of the biggest differences is whilst most sytrax are vigorous I have not found hemsleyanus easy. There are some excellent specimens but it is far rarer than it should be.
huanus seems a much happier shrub/tree and these are seed raised from my original collection. Very uniform. It's a big grower like hemsleyanus so not one for the smaller garden but if you have the space one definitely for the collection. I have several styrax at home but this is a favourite.
