An extremely striking and glorious, large growing hydrangea from the woodlands of China. Large velvety leaves (particularly large if cut back hard when mature) with big bluish lacecap flowers which have white ray florets. Hardy but requires wind-shelter and shade to give it's best. A big specimen grown well can look amazing. Introduced by Ernest Wilson in 1908 and named for Charles Sargent creator of the Arnold Arboretum in Massachusetts.
