Syringa pinnatifolia

A pretty little syringa collected by Wilson originally and not since as far as I know. It does not look like a Syringa and the old joke used to be that it could catch out the most knowledgeable gardeners out of flower.
Its actually a really good lilac for the smaller garden as some of the species I love but do get big. Eventually this can get tall but that is soon remedied. Pretty white scented flowers in May-June. I like it a lot.
